Substage is a music club in Karlsruhe that doesn't try to be anything it isn't. It's a place for live shows, mostly rock, metal, and punk, with a calendar stacked well into next year. The main hall is where the bigger acts play, and you'll find everything from Protest The Hero to Testament to The Black Dahlia Murder on the lineup. If that's your thing, you already know. Upstairs there's a second, smaller stage called Minestrone. It's open Wednesday through Saturday, and it's run by Salvatore and his team. You can reserve a table by phone, but don't try email or social media, they won't take it. It's a more lowkey spot for smaller concerts and hanging out. The club also runs themed party nights, like 80s and 90s vs 2000s parties, if you need a break from live bands.
