Svaha Yoga is a flow yoga studio in Amsterdam that’s been around since 1999. Two guys, Patrick and Gösta, got hooked on yoga in NYC and came back to open the first Vinyasa studio in the city. The vibe is serious practice but not too serious about itself: they literally say “serious flow yoga with a smile.” They offer daily classes in three intensities across a couple of locations in Amsterdam, covering styles like Vinyasa, Hatha, Jivamukti, Yin, and more. Mats are free, and there’s tea after class. Every class mixes in all four traditional paths of yoga: physical poses, chanting, philosophy talks, and the whole karma action-reaction thing. So it’s not just stretching, it’s a full package. What makes it worth a visit is the lack of pretension. They chant every class but insist they’re not a cult. There’s a team member named Princess Moksie who’ll cuddle you if you leave without a smile. It’s a studio that takes yoga seriously but keeps the door open for anyone, whether you’re here for t…
