1. Who is responsible

The operator of ForVibes (we, us) is the data controller for personal data described here, unless we say a business account processes data about its own customers separately.

2. Data we collect

• Account — name, username, email, password hash, profile photo, language and settings.
• Vibes — photos, videos, captions, reactions, vibe tags and proof that content was captured at a location.
• Standort — GPS or device location when you upload a vibe, use city chat, or check in at a venue (only when you allow it).
• Chat — messages, room membership, presence stances and festival AI questions you send.
• Usage — device type, browser, IP address, logs, cookies and similar technical data.
• Business accounts — company details, billing info, event data and brand assets you upload.

3. Why we use your data

• Provide the service: feeds, discovery, calendar, chats, uploads and accounts.
• Safety and integrity: fraud prevention, abuse reports, moderation and security.
• Improve the product: analytics and debugging in aggregated or pseudonymised form where possible.
• Communicate with you: service emails, security alerts and support.
• Legal obligations: tax, accounting or requests from authorities when required.
• Marketing only with your consent or where permitted by law.

4. Legal bases (EEA users)

Where GDPR applies, we rely on: contract (running your account), legitimate interests (security, product improvement), consent (location, cookies, marketing where required) and legal obligation.

5. Location data

Location is core to vibes and city chat. We use it only for features you trigger, such as proving you were at a venue, placing you in a city room, or showing nearby spots. You can deny or revoke permission in your device or browser settings; some features will not work without it.

6. Video and media

Uploaded media may be processed and streamed via our video infrastructure (e.g. Mux). Public vibes can appear in discovery feeds and on venue or event pages. You control visibility through product settings where available.

7. Festival AI

Questions you ask the festival bot are processed to generate answers. We may store questions and answers to improve limits, safety and quality. AI replies are based on public festival sources; do not share sensitive personal data in chat.

8. Who we share data with

• Infrastructure providers (hosting, email, video, payments) under data processing terms.
• Analytics providers if enabled and accepted via cookies.
• Other users, when you post public vibes, chat messages or profile info.
• Authorities or parties when required by law or to protect rights and safety.

We do not sell your personal data.

9. Retention

We keep data while your account is active and as needed for the purposes above. Chat messages may be deleted sooner per our retention rules. Backups and logs are kept for a limited period. You can request deletion of your account; some data may remain where we must keep it by law.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your data, and to object or withdraw consent. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Use account settings or contact us to exercise these rights. We may need to verify your identity.

11. Cookies

We use essential cookies for login, security and preferences. With your consent we may use analytics cookies to understand how the site is used.

You can accept or reject non-essential cookies via the cookie banner. You can also clear cookies in your browser.

12. International transfers

Our providers may process data outside your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

13. Children

ForVibes is not aimed at children under 16. If you believe a child provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

14. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top changes when we do. Significant changes may also be announced in the app or by email.
