History
IFMSA Maastricht is opgericht op 25 juni 1982, hiervoor waren wij onderdeel van SV KOKO (een studentenvereniging). SV KOKO bestond namelijk vooral uit Medische studenten.
Activities
Wij werken met 5 werkgroepen, die allemaal een eigen ideaal hebben. Onder elke werkgroep vallen projecten gerelateerd aan dit ideaal. Standing committee on medical education (SCOME) is de werkgroep die staat voor het implementeren van een optimale leeromgeving voor medische studenten. Door de leeromgeving te optimaliseren willen ze de kwaliteit van de toekomstige doktoren en de kwaliteit van de gezondheidszorg verbeteren. Standing committee on Public Health (SCOPH) heeft projecten gerelateerd aan alle problemen met de publieke gezondheidszorg, hierbij kunt u denken aan het gezondheidsbeleid, wereldwijde gezondheid problemen en het informeren/les geven over een gezonde levensstijl. Standing Committee on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights including HIV/AIDS (SCORA) promoten seksuele en reproductieve gezondheid en rechten d.m.v voorlichtingen te geven op basis en middelbaren scholen. Hiernaast zijn ze actief op de international focus days om geld op te halen voor bepaalde goede doelen, denk aan dance for life. Standing Committee on Human Rights and Peace brengt studenten samen die samen streven naar een gelijkwaardige en vredige wereld. Zij geloven in internationale, interculturele en interpersoonlijke solidariteit. European Medical Students Association (EMSA) werkt in Maastricht voornamelijk met kinderen. De projecten zijn vooral gericht om kinderen meer kennis bij te brengen van de gezondheidszorg en de functie en het doel van het ziekenhuis (bijv. het vertrouwen in ‘de witte jassen’). Dit doen ze dmv het teddy bear hospital, waar kinderen hun eigen knuffel mogen genezen.

Visie: IFMSA streeft ernaar medisch georiënteerde studenten te verenigen voor global health en hen de benodigde waarden, kennis en vaardigheden te geven om hieraan bij te dragen binnen de gezondheidssector en de maatschappij. Missie: IFMSA Maastricht vormt een platform voor medisch georiënteerde studenten in Maastricht en verenigt hen in lokale, nationale en internationale initiatieven welke impact hebben op de samenleving, persoonlijke groei stimuleren en bijdragen aan de diverse aspecten van global health
