The European Master in Food studies programme is a separate specialization of the MSc programme Food Technology. This specialization is open for students that hold a BSc or equivalent in Food Technology, Food Science or related, and have been admitted to the MSc Food Technology. Besides the relevant background, also the academic level, relevant work or research experience and other activities or achievements are evaluated, due to the limited placements available in this specialization (around 20 students each year). \nThis training offers study at 4 different universities (WUR, UCC, AgroParisTech, Lund University) during the 1st year and a 9-month combined thesis project/internship in one of the 9 partner companies during the 2nd year. The level of this training elaborates on the background of the student in the BSc programme. Another highlight is the wide spectrum of knowledge offered, including food structure and behaviour, consumer studies and management, food entrepreneurship, (sustainable) food processing, food safety, product development and innovation, a 2-year team project (i.e. major product development assignment), food fermentation, food law, and soft skills training (i.e. international teamwork, leadership, negotiation, communication, networking and strategic stakeholder engagement). Cognition and skills training must teach the student to communicate with colleagues from other disciplines and major stakeholders of the programme, to analyse and comprehend a problem and to create a solution for the problem.
