    ## Geschiedenis
    Het idee van studievereniging Criminologie In Actie is in december 2001 geboren in Antwerpen, België. De oprichters van de vereniging bezochten daar met een aantal andere studenten een congres over diamantsmokkel dat was georganiseerd door de Nederlandse Vereniging voor Criminologie. Het congres was een succes. Na afloop werd de oprichters van (het nog onbestaande) CIA door een aantal mensen van de Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam gevraagd een studievereniging voor criminologiestudenten aan deze universiteit op te starten.

    Criminologie is een multidisciplinaire doch specialistische studierichting. Studenten die voor deze opleiding kiezen kunnen omschreven worden als erg gemotiveerd. Ze hebben doorgaans een onstilbare ‘honger’ naar informatie en activiteiten op het gebied van criminologie. Ten tijde van de oprichting van Criminologie In Actie was de studie nieuw aan de Erasmus Universiteit.
