Versuz

Versuz is a Taekwondo club in Heemskerk/Beverwijk, not a venue with cocktails or a DJ booth. It's a sports club, plain and simple, and that's exactly what makes it worth knowing about. The vibe is low-pressure and practical. You train at your own pace, within your own limits, and the focus is on standing self-defense with barely any contact. It's not about brute force. Think speed, flexibility, balance, timing. All the stuff that actually matters when you're learning to defend yourself. Head trainer Peter Stet has been at this for decades. European champion back in the day, started teaching at 18, and still runs the sessions himself. You'll feel those years of experience in the way he teaches. Training happens Monday and Wednesday evenings in the sports hall at Kennemer College. Two free trial lessons if you want to test it out. Members range from 12 to 68, so there's no "too old" or "too young" gatekeeping here. Just show up, bring your energy, and see what you think.
