Blue Lotus has been doing the Chinese-Indonesian thing in Purmerend since 1979, which basically makes it a local institution at this point. It’s run by the Koh family, and they’ve built a reputation for solid, traditional dishes that people keep coming back to. The space fits over 100 people, so it’s also the kind of place where birthdays or family dinners just happen. Since 2015, they’ve added sushi and grill to the mix. So you’ve got two ways to eat here: go a la carte with the classic Chinese-Indonesian stuff, or hit the unlimited sushi and grill menu if you’re feeling greedy. They do delivery, takeout, and catering too, so you don’t even have to leave the couch if you don’t want to. The name comes from a blue lotus, which apparently was a rare thing in ancient China.
