  • Het studentenorkest "Apollo" bestaat al meer dan 160 jaar! Zo lang al sluiten jaar op jaar enthousiaste studenten zich aan om samen muziek te maken. Door een goede combinatie van muziek en een gezellig verenigingsleven weet Apollo een prima niveau te handhaven en een steeds grotere groep mensen aan te spreken.

    Elke maandagavond komen de orkestleden bij elkaar voor de wekelijkse repetitie, onder leiding van dirigent Dick Verhoef, die wordt afgesloten met de Apolloborrel. Daarnaast worden repetitiedagen en weekenden georganiseerd met veel muziek en veel gezelligheid.

    De orkestleden houden de eer van de ambitieuze student hoog, door studie en het DSC te combineren met het ondernemen van inspirerende en uitdagende projecten. Apollo voert elk jaar twee concerten op, rond Kerstmis en in het voorjaar. In Lustrumjaren wordt alles extra groot uitgepakt. Zo is er in recente jaren onder andere samengewerkt met Ellen ten Damme, Jaap van Zweden, Nobuko Imai en Floris Mijnders en zangeres Do!

    Op deze manier bewaakt Apollo het voortbestaan van de muzikale interesse onder Delftsche studenten, stimuleert ze mensen hun instrument te blijven bespelen en houdt ze langlopend contact met haar oud-leden. Apollo, het verbindend element in de muziek.
