Rufus

Rufus is a waterfront spot in the middle of the Frisian lake district, sitting between the Sneekermeer and the Langweerder Wielen. It's a converted farmhouse with a terrace right on the water, so you can watch boats drift by while you do absolutely nothing. That's kind of the point here. You can sleep, sail, or camp. There's a marina for your own boat, a minicamping with a covered fire pit, and a cafe that's basically the heart of the whole place. They serve coffee with homemade cake, breakfast, and drinks. Kids get a watersplash area, a football field, and a swing rope. Dogs are allowed in some spots, just not all of them. The vibe is lowkey and outdoorsy. You can rent sloops, sailboats, flat-bottom boats, and bikes (including e-bikes). There's a ferry that takes you across the water for €1.50, and walking routes range from 4 to 10 km.
