Museumcafé is that spot in Gouda you walk past and immediately want to know more about. Tucked into a monumental building near the Catherina Gasthuis, it’s part cafe, part event space, and fully about celebrating stuff. Think long lunches, high tea with friends, or just a coffee that turns into a whole afternoon because the vibe won’t let you leave. The space itself does a lot of the work. There’s a terrace in the garden for when the sun’s out, and a cellar vault inside that feels properly atmospheric when it’s colder. It’s not trying to be flashy. It’s just a good place to be, whether you’re there for a casual bite or something more planned out. They do high tea daily, plus lunch with sandwiches, soups, salads, and warm bread rolls. If you’ve got something bigger in mind, they host weddings (inside and out), babyshowers, borrels, and private events. They’re also big on the little details.
