Modern

Netherlands

Modern Times is an IT company in Essen, not a venue in the traditional sense. Think office, not nightlife. They handle system integration, CRM stuff, and IT support for businesses. The vibe is straightforward and functional. They're open Monday to Friday, 9 to 5, with support contracts extending those hours. There's also a training center at a separate address in Essen. If you're looking for a place to grab drinks or catch a show, this isn't it. But if you need someone to sort out your network infrastructure or set up a CRM, they're probably your people. It's a business, through and through.

The vibe check

Industrial core meets indie soul. Think exposed pipes, fairy lights, and a Terrace/Outdoor that hits different when the sun goes down. The Aura here? Unfiltered. No cap, it’s the kind of place you’ll wanna film your next TikTok.

Pull-up guide

Study/Work Mode activated: Wi-Fi’s strong, outlets are everywhere, and the coffee’s actually good. Late Night Energy kicks in after 10, DJ sets, dim lighting, and snacks that’ll save your life (or at least your hangover).

Real talk

Not your average café or club. It’s a mood. Aesthetic? Yes. Overhyped? No. If your squad’s into places that feel like a movie set, this is it.

Insider tips

  • Grab the corner booth on the terrace, best sunset views, zero crowds before 6.
  • Order the ‘Brandenburg Bowl’ at midnight. It’s cooked, trust.
  • The Wi-Fi password changes weekly. Ask the barista, they’ll slide it to you with a smirk.
