Jacques Pelzer Jazz Club is exactly what it sounds like: a jazz club, but not the kind where you sit far away and pretend to listen. It's the actual house of Jacques Pelzer, a Liège saxophonist and flutist who ran with Bobby Jaspar and Chet Baker. Since 2005, his family and fans turned it back into a living music space, so the place doesn't feel like a museum. It feels lived in, because it is. The whole thing runs on proximity. You're close to the stage, close to the musicians, close to the music. International names and newer talents take turns playing, and the vibe is intimate and warm. No big hall energy here. It's jazz at ear level, which is the only level that matters. Before the music, there's food. The restaurant does honest, generous homemade stuff at brasserie prices.
