Anima Mundi is a gallery in St Ives, Cornwall, that’s all about contemporary art with a bit of an edge. The space feels intentional, not stuffy. It’s the kind of place where you can actually breathe and take your time with what’s on the walls. Right now they’ve got two shows running side by side: Claire Curneen’s ‘To Set the Darkness Echoing’ and Oleksii Shcherbak’s ‘The Planet of the Giant Grasshoppers.’ Both run from 17 July to 4 September, so you’ve got a solid window to catch them. Curneen’s work tends to sit in that ceramic, slightly haunting space, while Shcherbak brings a more playful, surreal energy. It’s a good mix. Worth a visit if you’re in the area and want something that doesn’t feel like a standard tourist stop. No pretence, just art that makes you think a little.
