History

IFMSA (International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations) is een internationale medische studentenorganisatie die zich inzet voor de verbetering van Global Health en de ontwikkeling van toekomstige artsen en (para)medici. IFMSA, opgericht in 1951, is één van de oudste en grootste studentenorganisaties ter wereld. Wereldwijd vertegenwoordigt IFMSA 1,3 miljoen medisch studenten uit meer dan 132 landen. IFMSA wordt officieel erkend door de WHO en werkt samen met onder andere de Verenigde Naties, de Europese Unie en de World Medical Association. In Nederland wordt IFMSA vertegenwoordigd op alle acht medische faculteiten door ca. 900 actieve leden. IFMSA-Leiden is een lokaal onderdeel van IFMSA en bestaat uit ca. 100 enthousiaste leden die zich gezamenlijk inzetten voor het verbeteren van Global Health.

Activities

IFMSA-Leiden organiseert diverse projecten verdeeld in vijf thema’s: – Stages: Klinische meeloopstages, onderzoeksstages – Public Health: Dr. House-avonden, Donatieprojecten, Donorrequest, Teddy Bear Hospital (TBH), mini-TBH, Berendokter – Medisch Onderwijs: Medisch Spaans, Dying, a Human Thing?, Breaking the Silence, Zwangerschapsproject, Mental Health, Twinning Project, Movies & Medicine – Mensenrechten en Vrede: International Women’s Day, Nacht van de Vluchteling, Human Rights Day, Gezond Verstand, Healthy Heroes Project – Seksuele Gezondheid en Rechten: International Focus Days, Het Voorspel, Tienerwijs, Sekssessies Daarnaast zorgt IFMSA zelf voor al haar promotie met dank aan de commissie Public Relations. Deze commissie ondersteunt alle projecten en draagt bij aan het verhogen van bewustzijn over Global Health d.m.v. het creëren van posters, het schrijven van teksten en het vastleggen van alle mooie momenten. Mission & vision

IFMSA-Leiden is een internationaal platform voor studenten met initiatieven die zich richten op bewustwording en verbetering van Global Health in de samenleving en op persoonlijke ontwikkeling van toekomstige professionals in de gezondheidszorg.
