Lunchroom Grannies is basically your Dutch grandma’s living room, except you don’t have to call ahead or pretend you liked the food. It’s at Hoofddorpplein in Amsterdam, run by Harry & Will, and the whole vibe is homemade everything. We’re talking bread, cakes, uitsmijters, soups, wentelteefjes, and even Limburgs zuurvlees (aka zoervleish). All of it comes from their own kitchen, so no mystery ingredients here. The space is cozy in that “we actually want you to feel at home” way, not the fake-candle-and-throw-pillow way. You can just pop in for a coffee with a slice of their own baked cake and a newspaper, or sit down for a proper meal. It’s the kind of place where you’re meant to slow down, not rush through a sandwich while staring at your phone. They’re open Wednesday through Sunday, 11:00 to 16:00, with the kitchen closing at 15:30. Closed Monday and Tuesday, so plan accordingly.
