Toko Madjoe has been the Indonesian food spot in Amstelveen since 1987. Started as a small family business, now it’s a bigger spot with a proper kitchen, still doing things the traditional way. No shortcuts, just food made with actual care. You can order ahead or call in for pickup, which is handy if you want your nasi goreng ready when you arrive. Everything is 100% halal, and they source fresh ingredients daily. The menu covers the classics: rendang, ayam kecap, sate, telor balado, plus a bunch of snacks and sides. They also sell products if you want to take some of that flavor home. They do catering too, starting from 20 people, so if you’ve got a party or a work lunch coming up, they’ve got you. It’s not fancy, it’s not trying to be. Just solid, authentic Indonesian food from people who’ve been at it for decades. That’s the whole vibe.
