Thomas MacMillan is a composer and guitarist from the remote Pennine region of Northern England, but he's been part of Berlin's independent music scene since 2018. He plays with his alt-rock project Carnivalesque, collaborates with art-rock icon Kat Koan, and writes solo guitar music on the side. His sound is melodic and atmospheric, pulling from video game composers like Akira Yamaoka and Nobuo Uematsu, plus the niche micro-genre Fogcore. Think liminal spaces, analog horror, and nostalgia all mixed into something that feels both comforting and quietly unsettling. His EP Negative Space is a concept album about uncanny architecture, while Nervous System digs into anxiety, one track per facet of the emotion. Live shows are where it clicks.
