Stadsjochies started with a guy named Rob looking for somewhere to park his camper. He found a plot of land near Maarschalkerweerd, asked if he could grow some vegetables there too, and somehow that turned into an urban farm. His sons kept coming along and being confused that carrots aren't just orange, so he started calling them Stadsjochies. The name stuck. Now it's 1.6 hectares with four ways of growing stuff: open ground, an unheated greenhouse, a vertical farm for cress, and a tea garden run on permaculture. Around 140 different crops in total. In 2021 they turned one of the old greenhouses into a restaurant, the Kastaurant, where the menu is built on what they grow and what local farmers bring in. You eat surrounded by the actual farm. There's also a kaswinkel where you can grab fermented veg, their own beer, and cress to take home, so you're not just tasting it once and forgetting about it. It's in Utrecht, Rijndijk 14. Closed Mondays, otherwise open from late afternoon or earli…
