Sonic Ballroom

ger-Str.190, Köln, Germany

Sonic Ballroom is exactly what it sounds like: a live club, a bar, and a beer garden all smashed into one spot in Köln. No polish, no pretense. Just a proper underground venue where the music does the talking. The calendar is stacked with gigs across punk, garage, black metal, jazz, and everything in between. One night it's anarchist post prog, the next it's an acoustic set in the beer garden. There are also parties like BallroomBlitz! and The Sonic Boom if you'd rather dance than stand in the front row. Tickets are available at the bar, at Underdog, or right on their site. Cash only, 18+, and they're not shy about it. The beer garden has a ping pong table, which honestly might be the whole reason to show up early. If you're into discovering bands you've never heard of in a room that doesn't care about aesthetics, this is your place.
