Restaurant MOZO is a traditional Moroccan spot in Amsterdam, run by two guys who got inspired in California back in 2012 and thought, "why isn't this a thing here?" So they opened MOZO in 2013, bringing their parents' home country to the city with a bunch of grandma recipes and colorful tajines. The food is halal and authentically Moroccan, no shortcuts. Their three rules: fresh herbs and spices, don't mess with the old family recipes, and have patience. Some tajines simmer for up to five hours. That's commitment. It's a sit-down restaurant, open Tuesday through Sunday from 5 PM. They also do high tea and can host groups, so it works for a casual dinner or something a bit more planned. The vibe is accessible and relaxed, not stiff or formal. Worth a visit if you want real Moroccan food without the tourist filter. Just note they close for holidays sometimes, so check before you go.
