De Roma is one of those places that just has history baked into the walls. It started as a cinema in 1928, went through 20 years of empty silence, then got brought back to life in 2003 by a crew of volunteers. Now it's a proper music hall with art-deco charm, hosting everything from local up-and-comers to international names. Pop, rock, jazz, classical, it all happens here. But it's not just a concert venue. The place runs on people, literally. Over 500 volunteers keep it going, from cleaning in the morning to cooking in the afternoon and hosting artists backstage. That energy shows. It's also an open house for the neighborhood, with talk events under the name Spreken is Goud, where people actually sit down and have conversations about real stuff.
