History

Flow was originally founded as ‘Studievereniging Letteren’ on 12 October 2000. At that time, however, there was no real association, as there were few members and there was no board yet. In 2002 our association was called unofficially FLoW and the first board (2002-2003) was established. That’s why we are counting our years since 2002. Officially our association is called ‘Study Association FLoW’ since 2006. For the first signs of FLoW, we have to go back to the 90s. On 15 May 1987 Studievereniging Kon-Tekst was founded. This was the faculty association for the Faculty of Arts (this was the name of the Tilburg School of Humanities at that time). In 1994 this association was named Studievereniging Phoenix. Phoenix had a number of good years, but around 2000 there was a messy period. At that time there were few members and little or nothing was organized. Therefore it was decided in 2000 to set up the Study Association for Literature. In 2003 Phoenix was only dissolved, when there were no more cash flows (no pun intended). Now in 2019, Flow remains one of the biggest Study Associations of Tilburg University. There is currently a large group of active members forming the beating heart of the association. This gives Flow the energy and faith that the association will continue to exist for a very long time. In Dutch: Flow is origineel opgericht als ‘Studievereniging Letteren’ op 12 oktober 2000. In die tijd was er echter nog geen sprake van een echte vereniging, aangezien er weinig leden waren en er nog geen bestuur was. In 2002 werd onze vereniging officieus FLoW genoemd en werd het eerste bestuur (2002-2003) vastgesteld. Vandaar dat wij eigenlijk vanaf 2002 onze jaren tellen. Officieel draagt onze vereniging de naam ‘Studievereniging FLoW’ sinds 2006. Voor de eerste tekenen van FLoW, moeten we terug naar de jaren ’90. Activities

Flow organises activities in three categories: educational, professional and social. Educational activities include, for example, study-related workshops and writing marathons. Professional activities include company visits, company workshops and other career-related activities. Social activities include more informal activities such as drinks, cantus and game nights. Flow organiseert activiteiten in drie categorieën: educatief, professioneel en sociaal. Onder de educatieve activiteiten vallen bijvoorbeeld studiegerelateerde workshops en writing marathons. Onder professioneel activiteiten vallen bedrijfsbezoeken, workshops van bedrijven en andere loopbaangerelateerde activiteiten. Met sociaal worden informelere activiteiten zoals borrels, cantussen en spelavonden bedoeld.

Studievereniging Flow helps students of Communication and Information Sciences and Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence at Tilburg University on an educational, professional and social level. Studievereniging Flow helpt studenten Communicatie- en Informatiewetenschappen en Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence aan Tilburg University op educatief, professioneel en sociaal niveau.
