    ## Geschiedenis
    De Chemische Binding is begonnen in 1959 als een subvereniging van de GNF, de Groninger Natuurphilosophische Faculteitsvereniging. Het dagelijks bestuur van de vereniging heeft tijdens hun eerste bestuursvergadering de vereniging vernoemd naar het boek van J.A.A. Ketelaar over theoretische chemie, genaamd ‘De Chemische Binding’. De Chemische Binding werd in de volksmond al gauw de CB genoemd en verzorgde onder andere excursies en lezingen voor de chemici. Na de opheffing van de GNF, is de CB door koningin Juliana tot zelfstandig rechtspersoon benoemd. Het leden aantal is tot dusver gegroeid van 300 tot de huidige 800 leden. Van de 800 algemene leden, zijn er ongeveer 100 leden actief: zij vormen een hechte groep binnen de vereniging.
