Simplon

Simplon is basically the place in Groningen if you care about pop culture that actually pushes things forward. They run two rooms, the Grote Zaal and the Bovenzaal, and pack around two hundred events a year into them. That's a lot of nights out, no matter what you're into. They're known as the main spot for electronic music in the north and the biggest stage for hiphop culture in the region. But they don't stop there. You'll also find pop, metal, punk, and even folk, jazz, comedy, or whatever else fits the vibe. It's not a one-trick pony, it's a venue that actually covers the spectrum. Worth a visit because it's not just about big names. It's about being the place where those scenes live and breathe in the north. If you're in Groningen and want to know what's actually happening in music culture, this is where you start.
