Gegen

Gegen is a Berlin thing that doesn't really care if you get it. The name alone plays with two meanings: "against" and "around." That tension is the whole point. It came out of the ashes of SABOT°AGE BERLIN, the infamous queer techno party from the wildest Friedrichshain nights, so the lineage alone tells you this isn't some sterile club night. This isn't a safe space in the way you might expect. They're not selling you a one-night queer fantasy or some politically correct community hug. The idea is way more uncomfortable than that. They want you to sit with your own fears and pleasures, to perform your own psychosis, to be the enemy of yourself. It's a psycho-dramatic approach to partying that treats desire and identity as something to wrestle with, not just consume. The space revolves around queer narratives, but it's not about belonging to a scene. It's about exposing how your own power mechanisms work, which sounds heavy because it is.
