Dos

Dos is not a bar or a club. It's a research group at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, part of the Faculty of Architecture. They focus on structural design, which sounds dry until you see what they're actually doing with it. The work here is about testing what buildings can be made of. They're developing a modular ceiling system out of compressed mycelium shells, which is basically mushrooms doing heavy lifting. Another project, ReFrame, takes reclaimed wood and gives it a second life through digital design and robotic fabrication. Nothing about this is your standard architecture lecture. If you're into design, material experiments, or just curious about how the built environment might actually get more sustainable, this is the place to keep an eye on. They run seminars and projects that explore everything from digital skins to structural behavior, and they're not afraid to get hands-on with prototyping. Worth a visit if you're in Karlsruhe and want to see what the future of const…
