De Pelikaan is a coffee and tea shop that's been around since 1816. That's not a typo. The same family ran it for generations, and it's still in the original building in Zutphen with a lot of the original interior intact. It's the kind of place that doesn't need to try hard to feel authentic, because it just is. They roast their own coffee in-house, sourcing beans from places like Costa Rica, Ethiopia, and Brazil. You can buy their blends or single origins, and they take their tea just as seriously, with pure leaves and their own mixes. There's also a schenkerij, basically a tasting room, where people come from all over to sit down and actually drink the stuff. Plus a gift shop if you need to leave with something for someone else. They've been named Hofleverancier, which is a royal warrant, and their coffee won a national taste test a few times in the early 2000s. So yeah, they know what they're doing.
