Club Poema is basically a Utrecht institution at this point. 50 years as one of the go-to clubs in the city center, and it’s still doing its thing. It’s not trying to be something it’s not: it’s a club, it’s loud, it’s open late, and it knows exactly what it is. The weekly lineup is where it’s at. Monday is Poemaandag, a student night with free entry and student prices (beer at €2,09, which is basically theft in this economy). There’s a live piano and drums duo playing requests, so it’s less “stand in the corner” and more “everyone’s singing along.” Tuesday is International Student Night, also free, also cheap drinks, and open to all students, with extras for ESN people. Saturday is Move, which is all house and hardhouse until 4am. Bring your ID and student card if you’re going on a student night, otherwise you’re not getting in. That’s on you.
